Three more sanctuary counties join the ever-growing field of green this week, as the movement spreads across the state. Here are the latest changes...
These counties have someone working on getting a vote for a resolution, so we list them as entering the planning stages (orange):
👍 Knox County
Actively planning a vote soon (yellow):
👍 McDonough County
👍 Calhoun County
Passed a resolution declaring the county a sanctuary for gun owners or otherwise supporting the Second Amendment: (green):
👍 Bond County
👍 Hardin County
👍 Mercer County
Numerous commenters and those who have privately messaged us here have questioned us about how to get the process started in their county.
Here's what you should do:
1. Download the Effingham County Resolution.
2. Look up the phone numbers of the county board members in your county. If you need help, ask publicly here. You're certain to get someone to help you.
3. Call them one by one and have a friendly conversation. Find one that will support the effort.
4. Arrange to present the resolution at the next county board meeting. Print out a large version of this map and take it with you to show the board that 30+ counties have all voted to support it. This will make them much more comfortable with the idea.
Prepare for it, and good luck!
