Voting Later Today on Illinois Gun Sanctuary County Referendums

16 counties have a possibility of passing Gun Owner Sanctuary County resolutions

The long wait for ballot initiative question votes for Gun Owner Sanctuary County Resolutions has come, and a total of 16 counties have related questions up in these referendums. Additionally, one other county has passed a resolution by the County Board.

The other county that became the 44th to do so was Edgar County, which had apparently passed their resolution back in late August and just didn't get the word out.

Four of the sixteen counties voting tomorrow are doing so despite having already passed their own 2A resolutions. With another twelve voting, we could easily the state pass the halfway mark for counties that have approved similar measures.

The full list of counties voting, as well as the language inserted onto the ballot questions, is below:

  • Boone: "Shall Boone County oppose any law restricting law-abiding gun owners from their Second Amendment rights as guaranteed by the US Constitution and to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws which have or may be passed by the Illinois General Assembly?"
  • Cole: COLES COUNTY RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS - "Should the Illinois General Assembly pass legislation protecting a citizens right to keep and bear arms as defined by the second amendment of the United States Constitution?" Yes/No
  • Christian: "Should the Illinois General Assembly pass any additional legislation limiting a citizen's right to keep and bear arms as defined by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution?"
  • Cumberland: "Should the Illinois GeneralAssembly protect a citizen's right to keep and bear arms as defined by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution?"
  • Hardin: "Shall Hardin County become a sanctuary county for law-abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?"
  • Iroquois: "Should the Illinois General Assembly refrain from passing any additional legislation limiting a citizen's right to bear arms as defined by the Second Amendment to the United State Constitution?"
  • Johnson: '"Shall Johnson County become a sanctuary county for law-abiding gun laws passed by the General Assembly?"
  • LaSalle: "Shall LaSalle County oppose the passage of any bill where the Illinois General Assembly desires to restrict the Individual right of US Citizens as protected by the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution?"
  • Logan: "Shall Logan County become a sanctuary county for all firearms unconstitutionally prohibited by the government of the State of Illinois, for everyone except undocumented immigrants, in that Logan County will prohibit its employees from enforcing the unconstitutional actions of the state government?"
  • Macoupin: "Should the General Assembly pass any additional legislation that restricts a citizen’s ability to own and possess guns or firearms?”
  • Madison: "Shall Madison County become a sanctuary county for law-abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?"
  • Massac: "Shall Massac County become a sanctuary county for law-abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?"
  • Moultrie: "Should the Illinois General Assembly pass legislation protecting a citizen's right to keep and bear arms as defined by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution?"
  • Montgomery: "Should the Illinois General Assembly pass any additional legislation that restricts a citizen's ability to own and possess guns or firearms?"
  • Richland: "Shall Richland County become a sanctuary county for law-abiding gun owners to protect them from unconstitutional gun laws passed by the Illinois General Assembly?"
  • White: Civil Rights of Firearm Owners - "The People of White County, Illinois are OPPOSED to all attempts by the Illinois General Assembly, in violation of their Oath of Office, to infringe upon the Constitutional Right of the PEOPLE to Keep and Bear Arms."
